Agatsuma Soubi is one of the two lead characters from the manga and anime Loveless. Soubi is a 20-year-old college student majoring in Japanese Art. He is a very talented artist, and mostly paints butterflies and flowers with what look to be watercolors or acrylics.

 

At first glance, the only thing out-of-the-ordinary about Soubi that he is strikingly (almost femininely) attractive and that he wears a set of bandages wrapped around his neck. But Soubi is also a Sentouki, or fighter unit, in a battle system where the Sentouki casts powerful, word-based spells and the Sacrifice takes the damage inflicted by the opposing team. Soubi is arguably the perfect fighter, because he lacks a will of his own and can be paired with any Sacrifice. He gained his status as a Sentouki from his mother, who was a Sentouki to Ritsu Minami, who was later Soubi's sensei after the death of his parents.

 

On some levels, Soubi is a very tortured individual. He lost his Sacrifice, Aoyagi Seimei, when he was supposedly murdered by an organization known as Septimal Moon, after which he became, in the words of Kio, "like a zombie". Soubi, an orphan from the age of five and a compulsive loner, is almost an impossible character to figure out. But his mystery and charisma have drawn many fans (as well as many characters) to him.
